Our Philosophy

Punkin

Co-founders Sandy Miller and Gretchen Chamberlain feel very strongly about being advocates for our companion animals. We feel that because humans chose to domesticate cats and dogs we now have a moral obligation to provide them with humane and ethical treatment.

We also feel that pets are a part of the family and should be treated as such. We do not understand why anyone would get a cat or dog only to leave it outside or to chain it to a tree. We work with the public to educate them on animal care and how to be a responsible pet owner, which includes providing fresh food and water daily, adequate veterinary care (including spay or neuter), training and most importantly, love and companionship.

Our organization understands that knowledge is the key to improving companion animal care and eliminating the problem of pet overpopulation. We often feel like a broken record when speaking with the public as all of our conversations seem to circle back to spay and neuter. Many, if not all, of the problems facing animal control, shelters and rescue groups such as stray animals, neglect, abuse, abandonment, disease, starvation and overpopulation could be corrected by spaying and neutering all companion animals. This is a large endeavor and it will take a long time to correct the problem, but each cat or dog that is altered results in less kittens and puppies going into shelters and rescues.
